Oswal Jains trace their origin to Osian near Jodhpur in Rajasthan. Most Oswal families are Shwetambar, whether Murtipujak, Sthanakvasi or Terapanthi, and they live across Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, South India, Kolkata and abroad.
